Spain will be without Barcelona defender Gerard Pique for their final group match of the World Cup 2014 against Australia as the defender hobbled out of training with the an injury. Spain were knocked out of the tournament after having played just two matches. They suffered heavy defeats against Netherlands and Chile, which has been uncharacteristic of them. Gerard Pique plays a crucial role in Barcelona’s defence but the Spanish performer has been suffering from a pelvic injury which he picked up during the Champions League quarter-final match against Athletic Madrid.

Pop singer Shakira has praised the fighting spirit of her boyfriend Gerard Pique. Shakira made mention of the Spanish soccer club again when she recalled that some of the hundreds of Israeli and Arab children who on Tuesday welcomed her to a bilingual school in Jerusalem were wearing Barcelona jerseys.

“This visit is an opportunity to emphasize the importance of how to raise our children,” the superstar said.
