Barca stars call for Segura’s Head

After a nightmare start to the season where they were thrashed 5-1 on aggregate in the Spanish Super Cup by hated rivals, Real Madrid, and lost Neymar to PSG, Barcelona have fought back in spectacular style.

They have blitzed their way through their first six league games with Lionel Messi in typically imperious form. The Catalan giants have opened up a four point lead at the top of La Liga and are seven clear of Madrid.

It’s been a remarkable turnaround from them but just when you thought things were on the up, it’s being reported that trouble could be just around the corner.

OK Diario journalist, Eduardo Inda, has published an article in which he says that the Barcelona players want Pep Segura to leave the club just 10 weeks after being appointed general manager.
The alleged unrest in the camp is said to have its origins in the aforementioned Super Cup game against Real Madrid. After losing the first leg 3-1 at the Nou Camp, it was star defender, Gerard Pique, who bore the brunt of the criticism after his own goal that handed Madrid the lead.

To many it was an unfortunate error but Segura didn’t hold back post-match and blamed Pique’s own goal as the crucial turning point in the game. He said his error “changed the game completely”.
The comment said did not go down well with the player so especially the likes of Sergio Busquets who said it was wrong for Segura to publicly criticise Pique.

“Barcelona players have asked for the head of Pep Segura because they cannot forgive him for what he said about Gerard Pique in the first leg of the Super Cup,” said Inda.
He added, “The players do not like his manners and his ways.”

The failure to get a replacement for Neymar is also a major factor in the players calling for change.
