BARCA WILL COME BACK STRONG

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has said that he is extremely confident that Barcelona can come back strongly from the disappointment of having not won any major trophy last season by winning all the major titles they will compete in this season.

Winning all the titles in one season is certainly not new to Barcelona after they lifted a historic six trophies in one single season back in 2008. It was a debut season for the new manager Guardiola, who was being promoted from his role as the assistant manager. Barcelona are undergoing a similar transformation this time around as well, with the arrival of Tito Villanova at the helm.

It was a disappointing last season compared to the success Barcelona have achieved in the previous seasons. They might have won the trophies like the UEFA Super cup, but the disappointment of not defending the la Liga and the Champions League title was extremely hard on the players. The 25-year-old defender Gerard Pique, though, believes that the hunger is back with the Barcelona team and that they will be able to challenge for all the titles they compete in the season. He has also said that the star striker Lionel Messi has been given proper rest for the first time in two seasons.

“So far, things under Tito have been very good. He has qualities that are similar to Pep, but that was already obvious to us. He has his own style, and that’s important. The whole team has played two games together [in pre-season], and although there is still some work to do, the balance is very good. The whole team have started on a high note, and we also have Leo [Messi], who is an essential player, who will be decisive throughout the season,” he told El Mundo Deportivo.
