PIQUE BACKS BALE

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has surprised everyone by saying that he feels that the new Real Madrid signing Gareth Bale will be a hit at the Santiago Bernebeu.

Bale was recently signed for a world record transfer fee of £ 86 million from Tottenham. Real Madrid were also the holders of the previous record because of the Cristiano Ronaldo’s £ 80 million transfer from Manchester United in 2009. Bale has linked with Real Madrid for more than two months now, but there was a lot of hindrance in completing the move.

Manchester United are also thought to have made a late offer for the winger, who won both the PFA awards last season. Pique has praised Bale by saying that he is one of the best in the world right now. However, he is not going to predict the success of the midfielder at such a big club like Madrid where a number of top players have failed in the past.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been a huge hit at Real Madrid, but it has not been the same fate for Brazilian midfielder Kaka, who has suffered numerous injury problems since his £ 64 million move from AC Milan just a few days prior to Ronaldo’s move.

Madrid were involved in the chase for Neymar, who chose to move to Barcelona.

“Bale has an extraordinary left foot. I have no doubt that he will do well at Real Madrid. He has really grown a lot in the past few years. He has developed as a player and has gained a lot of experience. He has joined a big team that paid a lot of money for him. Time will tell whether he’s worth his transfer fee,” said the Barcelona defender, who has experience of playing in the Premier league with Manchester United.
