WE NEED TO STAY CALM

The Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has said that they still have not won anything in the new season and need to stay calm if they are to win the title come the end of the season.

Barcelona have made a great start to the season under the new manager Tito Villanova. Even though it has been slightly exaggerated due to the poor start to the season made by Real Madrid, the eight-point gap the club have at the top of the table is extremely significant even at this stage of the season. Yet, Gerard Pique is remaining cautious about the rest of the season and the opportunities to win the title.

Real Madrid have only one victory in the new la Liga season, while Barcelona have won all their matches without exception till date. The recent 4-1 win over Getafe during the weekend helped the club move two points clear at the top of the table. Unlike in previous seasons, Malaga are the team challenging Barcelona at the top of the table. Despite the lack of Real Madrid competing with them at the top of the table, the 25-year-old defender has urged his teammates to maintain the good start to the season.

“We played a good game. The conditions weren’t the best because we were coming off of playing matches for our respective national teams and we had a couple of players missing due to injury. But the field was in good condition, the pitch was perfect. We dominated the game. We’ve only played four games, this (the gap over Real) isn’t that important. We’re feeling good, though. We’ve won four out of four games. We have to continue like this,” said Gerard Pique after the Getafe match. Barcelona will be facing the likes of Sevilla and Real Madrid in the next few matches.
